Beyond Our Walls...
Beyond Our Borders.
Zion doesn't focus just on our community; we know there's a larger world out there
that's hurting, in need. Some of the groups that support global ministries are:
Tie-Knot Quilters
One group that assists ministry throughout the world is the Tie-knot Quilters. They
meet once a month on the first Tuesday from 1 to 3 pm in the church basement. We send
these quilts to Lutheran World Relief and they send them to needy people and disaster
areas. They are 60" by 80" and consist of three layers of fabric. The top layer is a
patchwork design sewn by people interested in our project. The middle layer is old sheets,
blankets or drapes. The bottom layer is usually a sheet. We tie the layers together with
heavy cotton thread and the knots are 6" apart. We are able to make these quilts with
congregational donations of fabric. For more information, call (610) 282-1055.
Some other projects that Zion members and committees contribute to are:
